National Fire Services Office

ISO® is paid by the insurance industry to evaluate more than 44,000 fire districts across America and determine how well a community’s communications (E911), water delivery systems and fire services are prepared. As indicated by the chart below(source ISOmitigation.com), more than half of the fire districts in the U.S. are rated Class 7 or worse, demonstrating the complexity of the ISO® audit.

Understanding how the ISO® auditing process works and that the data collected by ISO® greatly impacts the community it serves makes a fire department more effective in providing protection to its citizens because it also provides the insurance industry the data that is required for a community to qualify for lower property insurance rates. NFSO can help you understand these requirements and assist you in your efforts to provide cost effective protection for your community through an improved PPC rating.
